Raw cabbage, thin sliced, baked 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Serve with butter, salt/pepper
It was delicious and didn't stink up the house the way boiled cabbage can. The hubs said it was the best cabbage of his life. WoW

A personal journey of losing a 100lbs. chapter 1 page 2
Restricting food list
Addiction:
There is a level of anger and depression that settles in once
a person realizes that they can’t have something. I went through this
depression and anger years ago when I did my first real diet. I knew that for
the forbidden food to not be allowed was for a reason. I knew that for this
diet to work, the restricted food was important to avoid. The anger was in the
loss, a since of mourning over enjoying that food and for me that was candy. I
adore candy with the pastel glossy colors, intense fruity flavors, and the
ability to be busy while enjoying a lollypop involves scent, hearing, touch,
taste, and vision. You hold the lollypop, make noises popping it from the
mouth, it is just fun. Winging off lollypops, I first read the ingredients, I
mean I really read them, searched chemicals on the internet and educated myself
on the synthetic chemicals and fillers that was disguised as innocent fun
candy. Once I did this it was easy to choose natural foods and tea instead of processed foods.
Did You Know? Daily recommended calories are normally based on young male
adults with a healthy level of lean muscle, as opposed to your average
40-something, out of shape adult male. Young male college students are eager and readily available for government studies, which is why the government and research programs use them to base "entire" health habits and results.
Social Standards:
The daily low calorie intake is normally
around 1200/calories/day. If middle aged person where to eat this in a food
pyramid guide, chances are they would not lose weight and might even gain a few
pounds. The calorie intake for a middle aged person to lose weight would be
below 1200 calories a day from the food pyramid. It is almost reasoned that
for a middle aged person to lose unhealthy weight, they must eat unhealthy in
regards to calories. Eating lean healthy protein, high fiber very low sugar
vegetables, and drinking lots of water is the only way I have found an
effective method of losing my unhealthy weight, and yes often times, I was way
below 1200 calories a day following my recommended diet food list only. I started following the Dukan website
I purchased the Dukan book and for the most part follow the allowed list of foods. Why do I say for the most part? If I eat all the squash Dukan allows on the site, I gain weight. So for me there are foods on his list that make me gain weight.
At the end of the day, what did I realistically use to replace my candy bad habit.
Tea: the reason I rely on flavored teas, is variety. I grew
up with an abundance of flavors especially with candy. Flavored teas are a
healthy way for me to enjoy variety. If you don’t like hot beverages, almost
all of the flavored tea bags can be brewed before hand, and poured over ice,
add a little artificial sweetener and it is refreshing day or night.

Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment
Back story, I am a middle aged lady with juvenile (type 1) diabetes. I am also a VIB with Sephora
Its my birthday and this year Sephora is giving the gift of Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment
I wrote to Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment to ask them about the caloric impact Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment has on the system based on the science of the formula.
Several weeks later, and they still have not responded. In the nursing world silence means NO. The gist of my question was, is Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment
safe for a diabetic, Silence =NO, so NO it is not safe.
In my letter I wrote how I had read rave reviews on their site, plus Sephora and QVC. I also explained that I was a fragile diabetic and before I could enjoy their product I would need to know if it had any impact on my blood sugar level. Yes, Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment will raise your blood sugar levels and to me, I pride my health more than tricking my will power into eating candy disguised as a lip balm. Did I mention this candy lip balm cost over $20/tube! Maybe I should call it a luxury candy lip balm.
End result, I did not pick the candy lip balm and instead (sadly) picked the male gift which was a face wash. At least my skinny butt will have a super clean face.
all facts are true, and personal opinions are my own
update 1-16-13 the sugar fresh company did contact me and basically they did confirm my fear that this product can impact diabetics sugar levels. bummer, I really wanted to try this product.

A personal journey of losing a 100lbs. chapter 1 page 1
Chapter One: Take the
Lead
You might be the only one over weight in
your circle, or you may be the first person in your family to make a change to
be healthy. Life is a Journey and it is up to you to decide how to go about
that journey.
The Journey, we all feel the peer pressure to fit in, even
if that means doing unhealthy practices. Smoking, drinking, and eating bad
food, it happens to all of us. So what makes the difference; choosing you above
others. Choosing to keep your body safe and healthy and treating your body as
precious as it is.
Goal: Of course we all hear from everyday social
conversation and social media that we should all be at a healthy body mass
index (BMI) but the goal is health with the side effect of valuable weight loss.
Be the leader and take the role of being in charge of your
body.
You alone decided what to eat and you are what you eat.
Don’t be so obsessed with being liked. The first three
months after I decided to do healthy practices, I did have to defend my choices
with old friends and co-workers who didn’t like it when I no longer joined them
on their eating binges. Nothing makes a person feel worse about doing
intentionally poor choices than to have someone pull back and say No, I am not
going to do this with you.
Here are some catch phrases to help with smooth
conversations when saying no.
>I already have dinner planned at home.
>I had a late lunch, I will eat later
>That smells and or looks, good, but I am not hungry
>Oh I just ate, I am so full, on this one you have to stress "full" or people will keep pushing you to take a bite. I smile and gently "lady like" pat the middle of my tummy while shaking my head no.
>“Oh just one bite, it want kill you.” Smile, and say “that
is kind of you to offer but please excuse me, I have a phone call to make.”
Then dash for the exit. Take five, or ten minutes and return to socialize with
others.
>Fake it. I have done this so many times at birthday parties.
You smile, you sing happy birthday. You take a piece of cake and you break it
up with your fork. If you look around you will see others devouring their cake.
Make a comment, Mmm this frosting smells so good. Then when it is convenient
throw the smashed up piece of cake in the trash. This always works for me, and
I go home with a good feeling knowing I didn’t blow my blood sugar.
