We all have our vanity demons and one of mine is hooded eyes. I earned my hooded eyes by two events, first I am over 40, and second, I have loose skin from intentional weight loss. Beauty Hero, Lisa Eldridge who did a video introducing tips and tricks for the gal with hooded eyes.

I own two tubes of this, one normal and the second one is waterproof (for the beach/gulf coast living)
I adore this mascara it is simply perfect for my lower lashes.

Uses:

1. mascara for your lower lash line
2. Use on the upper lashes as a second mascara to separate lashes after you have applied a thicker mascara 
3. Use first then apply normal water proof mascara. Maybelline Lash Discovery applies a thin layer to your lashes first to help remove water proof mascara

I naturally have pigmented lips so this doesn't deliver a lot of color, so for me it is basically an overpriced lip balm. I think if you have light lips it would be a nice lip color. the pay off is the same as the Revlon lip butter but the chubby stick does have more moisture, but then again it is almost 3x the price too.

After switching from a low humidity desert feel of Wichita Falls, TX, I had to also switch my hair spray. I use to use the tresemme hairspray and have now switched to the L'oreal elnett spray.

Bonus, the hubs likes the way it smells and it allows me to go with second day hair with zero buildup

Now for the makeup look back. The eye liner, orange or red lips, and the accessories.... I swoon thinking of the accessories. 

If Carol Templeton really existed and was a working gal of 2013, she would need 3 hours just to pack on her accessories before going to work, not to mention setting her hair. Can you imagine Ms. Templeton sashaying into a board room with her plastic hat and jingling charm bracelets? Think of all the ink and coffee stains she would have on her pale pink and white suits at the end of the day. I can envision her smudged with filth from the UPS packages she had to stack in the corner from the daily deliveries. Yes, we have modern appliances and devises but, I would gladly scrap my iphone and ipad for the lady like lifestyle of Ms. Templeton.

Why does this movie relate to me? I was born in the late 60's with memories of the "Avon Lady" arriving at our front door as if she were Santa on Christmas Eve. Which I blame Avon for my love affair with cosmetics. I learned from Lisa Eldridge that in the 60's cosmetic companies targeted audience was adult woman over the age of 35.

Which is in contrast to current cosmetic advertisement targeting tweens with glitter eyeshadow.

I have always loved Doris Day movies and enjoy morphing her Hollywood 1960's makeup into a modern twist on my mature skin.  To learn more about Vintage Make-up video

 for this movie used matte and dewy foundation finishes to match the story of the movie. I noticed at the beginning Doris Day has a matte complexion and as the movie turns with the attraction building from the female point of view of desire, the makeup appears to have soft shimmer highlights applied to the top of the cheek bones with dark smokey eyes.

Looking at this movie I see all of the same cosmetics that we enjoy today as if they were a new concept, liquid eyeliner, fake eyelashes, bronzers, highlights, the bold red lip. As it is said, "the more things change the more they stay the same" and this appears to be true for cosmetics.

I love all of the Revlon cream glosses, I use this one over all of my dark berry shades, it doesn't make the lipstick darker but adds a nice blueish tone to the lips that make teeth appear whiter and this gloss adds moisture and slip to the long lasting berry lipstick .

Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment

Back story, I am a middle aged lady with juvenile (type 1) diabetes. I am also a VIB with Sephora


Its my birthday and this year Sephora is giving the gift of Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment

I wrote to Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment to ask them about the caloric impact Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment has on the system based on the science of the formula.

Several weeks later, and they still have not responded. In the nursing world silence means NO. The gist of my question was, is Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment
safe for a diabetic, Silence =NO, so NO it is not safe.  
In my letter I wrote how I had read rave reviews on their site, plus Sephora and QVC. I also explained that I was a fragile diabetic and before I could enjoy their product I would need to know if it had any impact on my blood sugar level. Yes, Sugar Fresh Lip Treatment will raise your blood sugar levels and to me, I pride my health more than tricking my will power into eating candy disguised as a lip balm. Did I mention this candy lip balm cost over $20/tube! Maybe I should call it a luxury candy lip balm.

End result, I did not pick the candy lip balm and instead (sadly) picked the male gift which was a face wash. At least my skinny butt will have a super clean face.

update 1-16-13 the sugar fresh company did contact me and basically they did confirm my fear that this product can impact diabetics sugar levels. bummer, I really wanted to try this product.
